Patchwork of Young Leaders Society has been showcased in President Barack Obama’s initiative, United We Serve. This is the President’s effort to illuminate successful and inspirational community based organizations in hopes to mobilize the nation to get hands on in their own community. In August of 2009 P.Y.L.S. was acknowledged for its successes and active mission. In July of 2009, The Yankees Foundation honored the humanitarian work of the founders of Patchwork of Young Leaders Society, Marco and Jennifer Chiappetta. The Yankees donated 10,000 as appreciation for their outstanding work. Parents of the teenagers who have supported the organization, came together in 2008, and nominated the founders as New Yorker of the Week on NY1 and into a Spanish television show called Viva La Familia. In this international show that focuses on family and community based issues, the producers honored the founders for the outstanding results in the youth, and rewarded the Chiappetta’s on a Honeymoon Trip to Las Vegas.
