Our goal is to develop a philanthropic society within our urban youth; by engaging them to be hands on in their communities and raising awareness on social issues in preparation to be proactive leaders.

 

Our overall objectives are:

To nurture our youth to become confident and socially conscious young adults who are actively engaged in their communities we promote a
strong voice and leadership qualities from the youth allowing them to address their needs and concerns through Youth Committee, Leadership through Sports and Leadership through Film

 

Leadership through sports; engage youth in physical activities that promote sportsmanship, respect, discipline, unity, and leadership while providing them with opportunities to participate in community service events

 

Our activities are: Flag Football and Baseball, Conflict Resolution and Role Playing

 

Our outcomes:

 

Ø The youth will learn basic fundamentals of leadership which they will be able to incorporate when they participate in community service events

Ø Youth will gain confidence and learn how to create a harmonious, unified environment through principles learned through sports

Ø The youth will learn conflict resolution techniques that can be incorporated in everyday issues

 

Youth Committee; A board made up of teenagers that will serve as a voice to represent their high schools and communities while becoming actively involved to help solve issues through community service and events and engaging/motivating others to become involved.  Parents of the teens will also be given an opportunity to have a voice through a Parent Board. Each youth will complete a minimum of 20 hours of community service each year. To create an active teen community board and create an active parent association.

 

Our activities are: Conflict Resolution Workshops, Community Service, Community Organizing, Media, Debate


Our outcomes:

Ø Youth will develop strong perspectives about social issues which will strengthen their sense of value, purpose, boost self confidence, will gain a more well-rounded identity, and feel needed in their community as they develop accountability and responsibility for their input in society.

Ø Youth will learn about their history and current events. They will become actively involved by organizing events that will address and/or help solve social issues; this will prepare them to be future proactive leaders.

Ø They will learn various conflict resolution techniques that will serve as an outlet and also teach them how to think outside of the box when resolving issues

Ø Youth will be able to prioritize what issues matter most their community and will complete hours of community service with stronger initiative

Ø Through Parent Board, parents of the youth will be given a chance to have greater involvement and interaction with their children and their community

ØThrough our youth committee we will give the teens a voice while bridging gaps that exist between each other

Ø Debate sessions will increase verbal and written skills as well as serve as outlets

 

Leadership through film; Through film documentaries, youth will learn about history, human rights, and social issues; they will learn how to tell their story through film as a presentation

 

Our activities are: Analysis on film documentaries, Workshops on editing

 

Our outcomes:


ØYouth will prepare and present their own film documentaries to voice social issues they feel are most important

ØWill enhance organizational skills, creative skills, writing skills and gain a greater understanding of social issues in their communities and around the globe

 

Our Overall Outcome:
